In those early days I struggled with getting out there and showing my stuff, then I realized it wasn’t being out there showing my stuff that I should be afraid of. I needed to fear what would happen if I didn’t get out there and market my business.

If I didn’t sell it, there would be people who didn’t have my services, and they could be failing at business because they didn’t have what I offered. They needed me.

Suddenly, the realization that people needed what I offer gave me the enthusiasm I needed to walk all over my fear. I could handle the fear of being in front of people. I couldn’t handle the fear of people failing because they didn’t have what I knew to back them up. They needed me!

That realization that people might be going broke because they needed me and I wasn’t available. That bothered me.

Once the enthusiasm of helping others took over and infiltrated my existence, I realized my fears disappeared. I felt strong enough to accomplish anything, because I had no fear. None. I could accomplish my dreams because I had motivation. Enthusiasm was my friend.

My enthusiasm caught on and before long I was wrapping up sales left and right, because people needed what I offered and they were willing to pay for it, because they knew it would benefit them.

What do you have to offer? Will it benefit others? Do you think, instead of being fearful of putting yourself on the line, you could step over the line and help someone else? Do ya think? I believe you can.

Go the distance and help others achieve their dreams. You’ll win every time, because you CAN NOT possibly out give God. That’s the bottom line. You cannot out give God!

When I started working from home, I struggled a bit to know what it was I should be doing, when I stayed home to work. But not for long.
As those first questions passed and I realized that my purpose, my clarity of purpose would ultimately define and brand my business, I was able to refocus my thoughts and stay on target with each job. Once I knew my purpose, it was easy to stay on target, do the work before me and not be distracted by the garden, the housework, or even the kids when they needed my attention. I was able to say, “You have your chores and work to do, I’m working now. Stop distracting me.”

My work time became more effective, and my play time more fun. I enjoyed the kids more, because we were able to spend our time together doing things that were more effective, more exciting, and more fun. The best part of the whole celebration of life concept that I was adapting was the fundamental clarity of purpose that I found in my business. Brand recognition became no problem, because not only did I know what my business was about, but my clients knew and were able to find my business online (new ones) easier, because I wrote about my business using keywords and concepts that were relevant ALL the time.

You can achieve this same kind of fundamental clarity and brand recognition, by following these simple steps -

1 – Identify the one thing that your business is always about, on all levels. For instance, my business is always about helping others to achieve their business goals. Always!

2 – Create a mission statement that keeps you focused and post it near your desk where you can read it daily. My statement is the prayer of Jabez. I didn’t write it, but I read it and apply it daily.

Oh that Thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that Thine hand might be with me, and that Thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! Amen

3 – Apply the sentiments of your identity and your mission to your life. Without action, your goals and concepts are just that goals and concepts. But with action, your goals and concepts become active life applications and success.

Once you’ve created a platform and begun to acquire the experience necessary to live out loud, your life goals become a vision of reality.

Life, real life, is about living this moment in such a way that the next moment is even better.

Your New Year’s Resolution to Get Healthy was so LAST YEAR! This year, you’re helping others to achieve their health related goals and you’re doing it online. At least, that’s your goal… You want to help others achieve their weight loss goals by sharing your own hard earned lessons learned with them, via your own website.

But you’re unsure how you can meet that goal?

There are a few simple steps you’ll want to take to prepare yourself to accomplish this goal.

Pick your niche. Lose Weight is a pretty big niche, and it will be difficult to find you in the masses if your keywords and your niche are just simply that. However, you might take a tip from Jenny and call your program by your name, which is probably pretty obscure (not more than a few of you by that name in the world, unless you’re John Smith). Or you could come up with a name that describes the tact you’ve chosen to market, such as Mom’s Healthy Cupboard, and use it to market your weight loss business.

Write it down. Put your information in writing. This should be fairly easy, just document what you’ve done, write down all your tips and tricks for losing weight and create viable proof that you know what you’re doing. (After all, you’ll have to be an expert to sell your knowledge.)

Create a functional plan. This could be a website, with your plan incorporated in the pages of your blog, something you share with your readers, or it could be just a notebook where you keep your treasured ideas until you’re prepared to share them. Either way, don’t sit on it too long, you’ll lose momentum. If you need help, there are plenty of business coaches out there to help you get your plan organized and online, ready to make a profit.

Get ready to sell product. If you’re selling product online and that product is part of an organized multi-level business, you might want to find out what the limitations are for marketing the product on your own site. There are ways to market the product without going against company policy, and you may have to think ‘outside the mlm box’ to get that done.

Become an EXPERT. If you’re already working within a field of interest where you have a whole lot of knowledge bundled up from accomplishing your own goal, you’ve got half the battle won. Now, all you have to do is keep learning. Nothing to it, there’s all kinds of ways for you to learn about your topic, online, in classes, at the library, etc. You just have to make that choice and take the next step to become a recognized expert.

You’re well on your way to developing a profitable health based business if you’re following these steps and ready to take the next one…

Those who make the most money in any industry are recognized in their industry as authority figures within that industry and an expert in their field. You’ll want to attain that level of recognition fast, in order to achieve your own financial goals.

Get started by learning what is current in your industry and maintaining a solid knowledge base within the current standards, while adding significantly more information and knowledge to your own data base. Be sure you include your own opinions and statements here, as quotables that others can copy and quote as you’re making yourself well known. People tend to link back to the names of people they quote, which increases your link quality.

Learn industry standard marketing practices and use them as a basis for your own marketing processes. These are important basics you’ll need to know as you promote your own online business within the health and weight loss industry. Don’t copy, but do use other ads as resources and templates for designing your own ads.

Become the ‘go to expert’ on article marketing sites in your niche. In most article marketing sites, there’s a specific niche for weight loss and health, find out how many articles the top author in that niche has written to be at the top of that niche and write at least ten more articles that s/he has written. Publish those articles on that article marketing site, and then publish more on other sites.

Write a blog post EVERY day, presenting tips, suggestions and ideas within your niche. Keep your posts short, sweet and interesting to keep your readers coming back, day after day.

Prepare a website with plenty of information, many pages of detailed data about your topic and include your credentials on the about page. Tell your story. Other people may have a history of education, professional stats and credible references, but your story will take you a long ways toward achieving expert status, if you’re believable and reachable.

Use social media to prove your expertise, by sharing tips and references to your articles, blog posts and website. Create a real personality on social media and make friends who pursue discussions with you about your expertise. Invite other experts in your field to become friends and discuss their experiences as well as yours.

Offer your speaking skills locally, record the events and publish your recordings. These recordings will help promote your expertise and develop your

Charge What Your Product or Service is Worth

Recently, I visited with a client who continues to complain that she’s not making enough money, although she works long hard hours. So, I got out the statistics and pointed out her business matrix to explain why her business is sinking in quicksand.

She’s not charging what her product is worth.

3 out of 5 women make more than $30K a year, that’s poverty level. 53% of unmarried women over 65 rely on social security for retirement income. Women are just as talented, skilled and capable of earning more, and they deserve it, so why are they not earning what they’re worth.

Women struggle to earn as much money as men in the same industries for real reasons. They choose not to charge for their work. Isn’t it time that women start charging equitable amounts for their products and services?

Myth: Most women don’t feel worthy or deserving of wealth.

FACT: If your work is of the same or better quality, you deserve to be paid and paid well for the products or services you provide. It is okay for you to raise your prices to meet your income requirements and provide quality work of equal standard for equal pay. Or better standard for better pay – you can charge more and get it if your work is better and you can prove it.

Myth: Most women provide substandard work.

FACT: Women tend to provide better than average work and services, often undercharging for their services, because they’re told their work isn’t worth the better prices. The reality is that women more often provide better product and better services because they have a need to fulfill the customer’s requirements and meet their own higher expectations.

Myth: Women don’t deserve to be wealthy.

FACT: Not only do women deserve to be wealthy, but they also must believe that they deserve to be wealthy, because that is the bottom line of building wealth. If they don’t believe they’re capable and deserving of great wealth, they won’t achieve it. If they do believe it, they will undoubtedly achieve their goal of becoming wealthy.

Myth: Women’s businesses don’t increase because they’re not working as hard.

FACT: Women often put in additional time, over their counterparts, to earn money. Not only do they put in the extra time and effort to earn their money, they go the extra mile to make sure they’ve earned it by giving their customers extra service, extra presentation and better product.

If you’re looking for a better job for nearly ANY service imaginable, you might want to consider hiring a woman to do the job. If not hiring her, contracting with her to get a woman who owns her own business working for you; the pay off will be to your benefit.

In full glory, crisp fresh mornings dressed in brilliant colors, pale blue skies and those incredibly glorious aromas filling the air. I don’t know about you, but autumn brings to mind the blessed days of winter soon to come, and all the marketing opportunities that go with the winter season.

When I was a young girl, Benny Reynolds brought apples to our home from the west slopes to sell. His family had huge orchards in the Delta Valley and they’d pick the apples then he’d drive over the Continental Divide bringing those luscious red fruits to our hometown to sell. I remember him sitting on a folding chair with Granddad, both of them slicing into apples as the kids got out of school and sending each kid along with a nice wedge of cored red apple to nibble on as they walked home. Within minutes, the parents of those kids would find their way to our home, parking along the street, sometimes two cars deep, buying bushels of apples and loading them into their car.

My sister and I helped count out the apples and put them into boxes and bags as people bought them, carry them to the cars, and watch happy apple customers from all over town drive off with the best tasting apples on the planet. These apples were so fresh and crisp, they literally snapped when you bit into them.

We would often ask how these people knew to show up the same afternoon Benny arrived over Monarch Pass to sell the apples. We just couldn’t figure that out. Then we’d see the kids pick up apple slices on the way home and we understood how some of them knew. But there were massive numbers of people who would show up from all over the valley to pick up apples.

As I got older, I began to realize that people called each other to tell others that he was there. Not only was Mom calling a large number of people but people called their friends and family to tell them the Apple Guy was in town again. Everybody knew who the Apple Guy was at Granddad’s shop. He parked there every year, and he had his marketing plan together before he arrived.

High Quality Product - His apples were better than any other apples coming into town. Bigger, tastier, fresher, and shinier.

Brand Recognition - He drove the same old 1958 Ford Truck with a big green box on the back that said, “Reynold’s Orchards” across the side.

Personable Sales Reps – Benny and Granddad smiled all the while they were selling. They knew every customer by name and in most cases they had each customer’s order ready when they arrived.

Consistent Marketing Strategy – He arrived every year at about the same time, during the afternoon before school let out. He showed up, set up and sold apples.

Pre-Sold Marketing List – Mom called the same people every single year, the contact list was in her Apple Book and she wrote down how many bushels they took each year, so she’d know how many they’d need the next year.

The Apple Guy is one of my favorite Autumn Memories. Each year, I knew he’d arrive about time for my birthday and we’d have apple spice cake with cinnamon streusel topping for the occasion. But more importantly, we got to see friends from our local community that we only saw during that week of the year.

If you’re still thinking “brand” means to burn a logo on the backside of a steer, you’re a bit off course and out of date, although that’s one meaning. Business Brands have a similar concept but less pain. Brand Recognition is the ability of your customers to recognize the specific field of business you are in, specifically YOUR business from a logo or phrase.

Because your logo, motto, and slogan are the first chance you have to impress visitors to your website, business cards, letter head, or product labels, your brand should stand out prominently on those objects. Once your customer sees your brand, it should be readily recognizable and memorable, no matter where they see it again.

One night watching Columbo, I noticed a pistol grip spray bottle with Amway’s red and white stripe spinning world logo on the side of it. I didn’t have to ask to know they used Amway products on the set.

It’s often recommended that you use your brand proficiently with all your business correspondence and product labels in order to impact your customers. If your vehicles are highly visible and your business is local, I often recommend putting the logo on the side of your car. I’ve even seen businesses with their logo in reverse on the front of their vehicle so it can be read in the rear view mirror. This is a great way to capture attention.

Small businesses should be highly aware of any elements that make their business brand recognizable and bring clarity to the question of “What do you do?” Show your customer what you do with viable business references. Make it easy to recognize your business with Brand Effective Recognition where it matters most.

A copywriter friend signs her work “Dina” and it’s quite effective. Her name is simple, clean lined, and unique enough that it’s all she needs. Everyone in the industry recognizes her work, because it follows the simplistic style of her signature; straightforward, implicit, and concise.

Our current President is identifiable by his middle initial. Through all of history I imagine he will be recognized as George W.

Nobody has to tell you that “Bugs” is a bunny. Everyone knows that “Bugs” has long pink ears and a fluffy tail.

When a local business owner came to me this week with an issue about renaming her business, the solution was obvious. Her non-storefront location offered a blazing trail of business, if only there was an identification of what she provided. The secluded entry hidden behind a rock wall, prevented folks from seeing into the establishment, and her site offered no front windows. Since Leesa is a familiar name locally in food establishments, we embellished it and stopped there.

Leesa’s Backroom Diner was born. Gussied up with Leesa’s color “pink” the sign stands out, states a fact, and gets the job done, with simplicity. We painted the door Leesa’s signature color and lined the hallway leading to her dining room with the same color and posters of prime menu items. Of course, her tablecloths are pink and her waitresses dress in pastel pink uniforms. Everyone remembers Leesa’s because her brand is simple and recognizable.

When branding your business, remember: simplicity goes a long ways toward making your brand both recognizable and memorable.

Every writer needs a solid definition to carry their business forward and that definition should offer a specific focus the writer can follow. Focus gives the writer voice, character, and position in the act of writing and marketing their materials. Whether you write books, articles, or white paper reports, your definition will carry you forward.

1. The Genre Decision

With the genre choice comes the often assumed identity – I’m a fiction writer, or I’m a science history writer, or any one of the hundreds of other genre specifics. But in reality, you’re probably more balanced as a person than just one genre. The decision you make, to write just one area may not be made intentionally. You may actually make it while writing. Business or copywriting offer a payday benefit, while other types of writing offer a different sort of payday.

Make the genre decision consciously and understand that you can write in more than one genre without having a major effect on your writing skills or results. Concentrate on your favorite topics to find sources of writing that you’re best at writing.

2. Original Topics

No matter what genre you choose, be sure your topics are original. Before we get started on this topic, let’s define original. In reality, there probably isn’t much new available, so when we talk original in writing, it means an idea someone else hasn’t put together or combined into one comprehensive study or writing. Bring up a new idea and write about it. Use new characters, new thoughts, new concepts and put together old concepts, ideas, and characters in new ways. You can create a new original scenario by using you imagination and being creative.

3. A Comprehensive Voice

Dig a little deeper and seek out your natural writing voice. Everyone has a specific voice or tone to their writing. When you find that voice, everything you write will be new and valuable. Your voice is innovative. Having a powerful voice, simply means you know who you are and what you’re talking about. Take the time when you write to find your voice and use that voice to shout your message from the rooftops of writing. Bring the people YOUR words, YOUR way.

4. Parallel Universe Disclosures

Often writers get hung up on the idea that something has already been written. Step over the obstacle and write on a different plane. Give up their repetition to a new and parallel universe and write your article. Give it your best shot and tell the world the way you want to do things. You can write your story, even using their article as a reference if you choose to do so, and you’ll get rave reviews so long as you stay off the “copyright-infringement route” and use your own original thoughts and ideas.

Reference the work if you quote it.

5. Understanding the Market

Probably the most important thing for you to grasp from this whole article is right here. Know your market. When you know who will read your information, your information will be written specifically for that market, sold to that market, and it will be profitable. Give it your best shot and understand the value of your market niche and knowing what that is.

Once your market is identified, you only have to write for them. The easy part is writing for people you know and understand.
